The Ambassador Bridge is the busiest international land border crossing in North America, connecting Detroit, Michigan with Windsor, Ontario. It handles an enormous volume of commercial truck traffic and passenger vehicles, carrying a significant share of all Canada–US trade by value.
Best times to cross: Weekday midday periods (10am–2pm) are typically lighter for passenger vehicles. Morning and evening rush hours, as well as Friday afternoons, see the heaviest delays.
Lane types available: Standard passenger, NEXUS, and commercial truck lanes. Multiple lanes open during peak periods for both directions.
Southbound (Canada to US): The Into Canada official cam shows real-time conditions at the Windsor plaza. Northbound (US to Canada): The Into USA cam shows Detroit plaza queue depth. Huron Church Road cameras on the Windsor side show upstream approach traffic.
